  17.      Maybe you have had some "basic training" in first aid, and are
  18. knowledgeable about the correct procedure to use in case you see some one
  19. choking in a restaurant or even at home.  It is a common enough situation,
  20. with 3000 cases of death by choking occurring each year in the United States.
  21. But what if the victim is an infant or child?  Are you still sure you would
  22. know what to do in that emergency?  Children under the age of five comprise
  23. ten percent of the cases of deaths by choking, and those numbers might well be
  24. reduced if only you knew what to do.  That makes the booklet offered by the
  25. American Academy of Pediatrics, in conjunction with the American Trauma
  26. Society such an important one for you to get your hands on.  It is called
  27. "Choking Prevention and First Aid for Infants and Children" and it contains
  28. information and instructions that make it a vital brochure for you to read and
  29. study.  There are specific instructions about the measures to be taken for
  30. both infants under one year old as well as older children, instructions that
  31. can save a life.  The brochure opens into a chart that can be posted,
